Closed cell spray foam for basements, where moisture is part of the job.
How we do it.
- Closed cell below grade.Open cell is for above-grade spaces. Closed cell adds a moisture and vapor barrier.
- Rim joists get sealed too.Closed cell, 2 inches or more, along the rim joist.
- Dry surfaces first.Moisture has to be below 8% before we spray.
- Covered if it's living space.Finished or living space needs the foam covered or coated.

R-value measures how well insulation holds back heat. Higher is better. Closed cell is rigid and also blocks moisture; open cell is softer and dampens sound. Ranges are from Universal Polymers (UPC) data sheets, tested at 1 inch. We choose the foam for each job. See the data sheets
Before we arrive.
- The space has to be completely empty.Everything comes out before we arrive, unless something truly can't be moved and we've talked it through.
- Room for our trailer.We need driveway access for a trailer about 10 feet tall.
- We bring the lifts and scaffolding.You don't need to rent or supply anything to reach high areas.

Can I leave things in the area?
No, unless something can't be moved and we've talked it through.
Can you spray wet or cold surfaces?
No. Moisture has to be below 8%, and spray foam is temperature sensitive, so we check conditions first.
Can the foam be left exposed?
In an attic or other non-living space, yes. Some jobs call for a coating or paint over exposed foam, and in living space it needs to be covered or coated. We'll tell you which applies when we quote.
